COMMERCIAL THEFT- Commercial theft has always been a problem within the retail sector
of business. In any business, large or small, where the handling of cash is necessary, true business profits can be affected
by the honesty of employees. Whilst the vast majority of persons employed within the retail sector are honest, it only takes
one dishonest person engaged in theft, to cause serious damage to the trading status of a business.
With the aid of state-of-the-art surveillance equipment, and investigative
techniques, JC Associates are able to catch the thieves. We believe all employers’ within the retail
sector have a duty towards their honest employees in ensuring that those employees’ so engaged in pilfering/theft and
fraud within the workplace are identified as quickly as possible so that suspicion is removed from the rest of the general
workforce.
TILLSCAN: A COVERT MONITORING SOLUTION - JC Associates utilize a covert monitoring system
for scanning “Cash Registers”. The information will record the activity at the cash register, and this can be
presented for evidential purposes at any subsequent criminal hearing.
INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES - Investigating theft by employees’ can be a sensitive business. It may be the
case that an employer cannot believe that long trusted employees’ are engaged in stealing from them, and is anxious
on embarking on such an investigation. JC Associates can make a range of discreet enquiries for the purposes of identifying
the likely culprit, before targeting the suspected individual. JC Associates are always mindful that an employer, or agents acting on their behalf, such as investigators,
must be very careful when dealing with matters involving employees’. With the current Employment legislation in force,
JC Associates are aware that there are particular protocols which must be adhered to when investigating employees’.
We believe we have a responsibility to protect
the employer at all times by ensuring that our actions do not leave the employer open to a claim of unfair dismissal, constructive
dismissal, wrongful dismissal, or that of harassment, by the employee. Where there is evidence to prove theft/fraud by an
employee, JC Associates will provide an evidence report, and liaise with police, if required.
THEFT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY- Intellectual property can exist in many forms,
and is protected by different laws. Legislation seeks to protect the owner against theft, or misuse of such things as Copyright
and Design Rights, Registered Trade Marks and Patent Infringement. The law in these matters is complex, and there is much
Case Law on such matters. The role of the Private Investigator is to present evidence to prove that intellectual
property rights are being abused, either by outright theft, or misuse, in “Passing off”, for example.

Property Law have occurred.
